CBT-I is the leading evidence-based treatment for insomnia. It's recommended as the first-line treatment-- in plain terms, skills before pills! Treatment is collaborative and practical: you'll learn how sleep actually works, why trying harder and forcing yourself backfires, and how to create the right conditions for your body to do what it's supposed to do- sleep at night. Together we'll fine-tune your sleep window so your sleep drive strengthens (meaning you get sleepy!), re associate the bed with sleep instead of frustration, and update unhelpful beliefs. We'll also sharpen daytime routines that will set up better nights- timing light, activity and wind-down more effectively, and add practical relaxation skills you can actually use at 2 a.m. This is a science based targeted approach that is usually much more effective than just sleep hygiene.
