Psychoanalytic Therapy
Psychoanalytic therapy treats more than just your symptoms. It aims to understand how your deepest feelings, unconscious conflicts, and early experiences shape your entire emotional life. The work focuses on your internal world- your thoughts, fantasies, emotions, and dreams, including how you relate to your therapist. The therapy thus becomes a living laboratory, allowing you to gain a felt understanding and deep insight into yourself. This powerful process can often lead to lasting relief of lifelong pain and a stronger and fuller sense of self.
For those familiar with psychoanalytic theory--my orientation is broadly relational. I have been deeply influenced by the work of modern object relations, self psychology, and the inter-subjectivists.
