FAQs
Who will I speak to when I call?
You will speak directly with me. While I have an assistant who on rare occasions may contact you regarding a billing or administrative issue, I will be the only person with whom you will ever discuss your personal and confidential manners. When we speak for the first time, I will listen to your problems and concerns, and let you know if I feel I can help you. If in my opinion I believe that I am not the right professional for you, I will provide you with an appropriate referral.
What are the fees?
Fees will be agreed upon at the initial visit. The usual fee is $250 per 50-minute therapy session. If you have concerns about affording the fee, please discuss them with me. Some sliding scale fees are offered.
Do you accept Insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. This means that although I do not contract directly with insurance companies, if you have out-of-network benefits, you may still get reimbursed. Out-of-network coverage often reimburses 60-80% of costs, but this can vary depending upon your plan. If you wish to use out-of-network benefits, you will be asked to pay my fee and I will provide a receipt or other necessary documentation for reimbursement. For information about your coverage, call your insurance company and ask:
- Does my policy cover out-of-network benefits?
- What is my deductible, and how much has been met this year?
- How much does my out-of-network benefit cover?
- What is the process for out-of-network reimbursement?
How do I schedule a session with you?
The easiest way is to call, text, or email me. I will contact you directly, discuss you concerns, and schedule an your appointment.
What is your clinical orientation?
I am well trained across a number of approaches, including CBT, psychoanalytic therapy, trauma informed, and mindfulness based stress reduction. I am empirical and eclectic, meaning that I will listen carefully as we begin and choose with you the specific therapies that will be most effective in addressing your issues and reducing your distress.
How often would we meet?A: Typically, once a week. There are occasions when more than once a week can be very beneficial, i.e. when someone is in crisis. Additional sessions can be arranged. I often meet with psychoanalytic patients twice weekly.
Are you licensed?
A: Yes, I am a New York State Licensed Psychologist. You can verify my license at www.op.nysed.gov/opsearches.htm. In Florida, I am registered as an out of state Telehealth provider and can meet with you online.
How long does psychotherapy last?Unfortunately, it's very difficult if not impossible to say without meeting/assessing you and your issues! Everyone’s circumstances are unique and the length of time depends on your effort, commitment, and the range of factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place. Certain approaches are generally more focused and time limited, such as CBT. Please let me know if you are particularly interested in this type of therapy.
I want to get the most out of therapy. Is there anything I can do?
I am glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your enthusiasm, active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success.
